LUDLOW — The Ludlow Fire Department and mutual aid partners extinguished a fire in a vacant home on Poole Street on Tuesday evening.

On Tuesday, Dec. 30, at approximately 5 p.m., Ludlow Central Dispatch received multiple 911 calls reporting a structure fire at a residence at 464 Poole St.

Upon arrival, first responders observed fire and smoke coming from the front of the home.

Ludlow Police officers immediately deployed fire extinguishers to slow the spread of the fire. Ludlow Fire Department crews arrived on scene and advanced hose lines to fully extinguish the fire. Fire damage was confined to several rooms of the home, while smoke and heat damage extended throughout much of the first floor.

The home was vacant at the time, and no residents were displaced.

Mutual aid assistance at the scene was provided by the Westover and Wilbraham Fire Departments, while the Chicopee Fire Department provided station coverage. The Granby Fire Department assisted with a medical response while Ludlow firefighters were at the fire scene.

Due to the lack of a municipal water supply in this area of Ludlow, water tankers were utilized to support firefighting operations. Ludlow Police assisted with scene safety and traffic control, and Ludlow Central Dispatch provided communications and logistical support throughout.

The fire is believed to be accidental and remains under investigation. No injuries were reported.
